Toyota said it would notify vehicle owners through first-class mail about the recall of some of its 2012-2013 car models. Toyota had also urged owners of faulty car models to visit their dealers for a quick fix on their vehicles.

Toyota has issued a voluntary safety recall of cars in the 2012 and 2013 model years because of problems in the airconditioning condenser unit housing. In the US, the recall affected 803,000 Camry, Camry Hybrid, Avalon, Avalon Hybrid and Venza models. Globally, there were 885,264 units recalled.

Toyota had provided a solution to fix the faulty airconditioning condenser unit. The car maker said, "To remedy this issue, Toyota dealers will apply sealant and install a cover to the air conditioning condenser unit housing seam located above the airbag control module."

Despite the recalls reaching nearly 20 million cars in the past two years, Toyota still reported a 14% increase in overall revenues in August this year. It posted a net profit of JPY 562 billion as it was able to sell 2.2 billion cars worldwide. CNN Money reported that a weaker yen helped boost the carmaker's profits in the first fiscal quarter by 94%. Cost-cutting measures also played a role in improving the company's finances.
