Offline group meeting facilitator platform Meetup had made its first acquisition. The company had acquired small startup company Dispatch for an undisclosed amount. Dispatch is an organization program that produces intelligent group email addresses for project management. Coincidentally, Dispatch started in a meetup.

The acquisition also resulted to the appointment of the three founders of Dispatch to the Meetup team. The founders included Alex Godin, a young and popular tech enthusiast and entrepreneur.

Meetup chief executive Scott Heiferman disclosed to VentureBeat that the company had been eyeing Dispatch's technology for quite some time. The engineering and design team of Meetup had been working plans to use the technology to aid Meetup in making communications by group organizers more easier.

"Dispatch was the perfect match," Heiferman said.
