Billionaire activist investor Carl Icahn posted a series of tweets confirming his influence in Nuance Communications. Icahn, through his investment funds that include Icahn Partners LP and Icahn Onshore LP, owned a 16.9% stake in the software company. His latest tweet confirmed the appointments of Dave Schechter and Brett Icahn as new directors of the board for the Massachussetts-based Nuance.

His first tweet read, "Happy to have reached an agreement with Nuance Communications where Dave Schechter and Brett Icahn will join the board of directors." His follow-up tweet read, "I'm optimistic their impact at NUAN will be similar to HAIN, where stock went from $20.20 to $79.56 over the 3 years they sat on the board."

Schechter and Icahn's son are also directors of the Hain Celestial Group, Inc, a leading company in natural and organic products. The controlling interest of the investment funds of the senior Icahn had allowed the appointments of Schechter and the younger Icahn in the New York-based company in 2010.
