Digital Generation (DG), a publicly-traded company which provides services in ad management and distribution, announced that it had acquired Republic Project. The ad startup company would be acquired by DG for USD1.4 million in cash. Republic would also stand to receive earn-out payments based on its profitability and revenue achievements.

Republic was launched in 2009 as a sales platform for artists and labels to sell music pre-ordered by fans. The startup had expanded to ads, allowing clients to create rich media ads and update them in real-time on various devices and platform. Republic had received USD1 million in funding just last year from investors that included500 Startups and Google Ventures.

DG chief marketing officer Ricky Liversidge said about its recent acquisition, "(The acquisition would help the company's efforts) to integrate and innovate within areas such as social and mobile, while making sure advertisers can move quickly within a data driven landscape."
