Blizzident introduced a toothbrush that can clean teeth in just 6 seconds. According to Blizzident Spokesman Chris Martin, they originally intended to make a tool that cleaned teeth perfectly. "The six-second brushing time was just a side effect of the invention, but that was not even intended," he said. He also said they would be sharing clinical studies to prove the efficiency of their product.

The Blizzident toothbrush, however, is pricey. The first brush would cost USD 299 and would last for one year. The replacement brush would be cheaper at only USD 159. To personalize the toothbrush, a dentist can do an impression of your teeth for USD 75 to USD 200. This model would then be uploaded to Blizzident's website. A 3D printer would then be used to create the brush.

Meanwhile, one of the top toothpaste and toothbrush makers, Colgate Palmolive Company, reported robust sales in the first quarter of 2013. Net sales for the period increased by 2.5% to USD 4.315 million compared to that of the same period last year. It also maintained its leadership in manual toothbrush category where it commanded a global share of 33.4%.
