Y Combinator-backed Swiftype announced yesterday that the startup has closed a USD7.5 million funding round. The funding round was just six weeks after it had raised USD1.7 million in Series A investment. Pundits had said that this was unusual, as technology startups usually wait a while before raising another seed round after it receives Series A investment.

Andreessen Horowitz seed fund, Ignition, Kleiner Perkins and other angel investors participated in the recent seed round. Swiftype's initial investment investor New Enterprise Associates participated as well. The fund would be used for company expansion, including hiring extra engineers for product development.

Swiftype allows companies to integrate search engines like Google, Yahoo and Bing into their websites without additional coding. Swiftype also provides optimization for mobile and analytics to determine visitor website habits.

Swiftype said that it has over 100,000 clients. It counts Mixpanel, Twilio, SendGrid and popular company brands Facebook, Shopify, the Mayo Clinic and BestBuy  as its current customers.
