Amazon introduced another addition to its Kindle line. The Kindle Fire HDX in 7-inch and 8.9-inch screen models is the latest to Amazon's android tablet line. The Kindle Fire HDX featured crisper and sharper colors than older models. Compared to the latest iPads, the Kindle Fire HDX has more pixels per inch. Users who are unsure about how to operate the device or want to troubleshoot an issue can talk with a live customer service representative using the "Mayday" feature.

Despite the upgrades, Amazon has lowered the prices of the Kindle Fire HDX. The 7-inch version which has 8 GB of memory would only cost USD 139. The larger tablet with 16 GB of memory would retail for USD 199.

Amazon's digital products like the Kindle and Kindle Fire HD were among the company's top ten worldwide bestsellers for the second quarter. However, the e-commerce business reported a USD 7 million loss on its earnings for the second quarter this year. Amazon posted revenues of USD 15.7 billion for the said quarter. In the same period last year, Amazon had USD 7 million earnings on a USD 12.83 billion revenue.
