Major retail firms Argos and eBay announced Tuesday they are undertaking on a trial basis its new collection service. The new service would allow UK customers to pick up products purchased on eBay from Argos retail stores.

The said service would be available for six months and would allow customers to pick up items from nearly fifty selected eBay merchants in the 150 or so stores located throughout the United Kingdom.

This service though is not expected to make a major impact on the overall financial performance of the parent company of Argos, Home Retail Group Plc. As of 845 GMT, shares of Home Retail Group rose two pence or by 1.2% at GBP1.67 per share. This places the value of the company at GBP1.34 billion.

According to Argos Managing Director John Walden, "With the continuing growth of online shopping, customers increasingly expect faster, cheaper and more convenient fulfillment of their orders."
