Aegis, the Indian outsourcing services firm, is seeking acquisitions in Asia and South America to enhance its offerings and expand its skills management portfolio. The subsidiary of Essar Group, the USD 39 billion conglomerate, is also seeking to expand into Europe.

According to Aegis Ltd Global CEO Sandip Sen, in an interview with PTI, when asked about acquisition plans of the firm, said, "At this point we are looking at whether it could be a geography in Asia or it could be near shore to the US, but if there is somthing which is valuable there we could look for it."

As to the type of the acquisition being sought, Sen replied, "We do not have anything specific in mind, but we are open to what we call right kind of acquisitions.  These are not very large acquistions, but in our terminology is called tuck-ins. If there is a particular skill set we need or if there is a particular geography which is very important, that we don't have. We are certainly willing to look at it and we are evaluating it."

In the past, Aegis had acquired 18 firms, but has not done any new acquisitions in the past two years. The firm is said to be scouting 'tuck-ins' in South America, Asia and South Central America.
