Nearly 36 private equity deals with a volume of USD924 million were completed in August. For the last eight months of 2013, the total value of private equity deals in the country reached USD7.631 billion.

The information came from advisory firm Grant Thornton. With the deals topping USD7.6 billion, this was a 31% increase from the previous year, where only USD5.83 billion were announced.

According to Grant Thornton Transaction Advisory Services Partner Raja Lahiri, "PE deal value has increased by 31% in the January-August 2013 driven by some large buy-out deals like Barings-Hexware deal, which in our view is an increasing trend in PE deal dynamics."

Comparatively, a month on month basis saw a decline in the total private equity transactions that were done. In August 2013, there were 36 private equity deals amounted to USD924 million, decline of 49% compared top August 2012. This decline was due to the dollar investment by Bain Capital in Genpact Ltd in August 2012, according to Grant Thornton.
