The official company launch of Lift Labs was held today with the backing of Rock Health and angel investor funding worth USD1 million. Lift Labs develops a portfolio of home health hardware to improve the quality of life for those suffering Essential Tremor and Parkinson's disease.

One of the first products of the company is Liftware, which is an anti-tremor spoon that assists patients with eating. The product was developed by a team of mechanical engineers headed by Anupam Pathak PhD. Liftware was designed to respond to the tremors of the users and effectively cancel them.

According to Lift Labs CEO Dr. Anupam Pathak, "Essential tremor affects up to 220 million people worldwide and can be debilitating turning the simple task of eating into an exercise in futility or embarassment."

The original device was created using an USD800, 000 grant from the National Institutes of Health. With the investment, the total company financing now amounts to USD1.8 million. This is the same technology used in the iPhone to detect and correct the tremors. Now, Liftware is able to reduce 70% of the tremors of its users.
