Apple's newly-released iOS 7 represented a visual departure from its six predecessors. This was the verdict of a report from The Independent. The new design of Apple's mobile operating system was not like the 3D effects of versions 1 to 6. Instead of textures and drop shadows, the iOS 7 decided to go with a flat yet layered and colorful interface.

In addition to the more streamlined look, the iOS 7 also added new features. It has added a control center for volume, music and camera controls, among others. This would definitely make multi-tasking a breeze, the report said.

The iOS 7 would be available for Apple's latest models, starting from the iPhone 4, iPad 2 and the new generation iPod. It would also be available on new models, the iPhone 5S and 5C as soon as they get released.

Apple's launch of its new iPhones was set to give the company a sales boost. A Morgan Stanley research reported in Fortune Magazine predicted  that Apple would be able to sell 34.5 million iPhones this quarter alone. This would represent a 28% increase from the sales in the same period last year.
