Luxury car manufacturer Lamborghini unveiled its newest creation in a Dubai showroom: A car made out of gold. Citing the manufacturer's website, CNBC said the custom model of the Lamborghini Aventador LP-700-4 was carved out of a 500-kilogram block of solid gold. The finished model contained 25 kilograms of gold and would have precious metals and gemstones totaling USD 2.64 million. RGE Robert Gulpen Engineering, a firm in Germany, crafted the car model on a scale of 1:8.

The actual real Lamborghini Aventador LP-700-4 would not be made yet. Pundits were said to be intrigued by the car's outer design resembling a fighter jet, and its machine under the hood that could supposedly run from 0-100 kilometers per hour in 2.9 seconds.

Lamborghini said it would eventually auction the gold car at a starting price of USD 7.5 million. The company would giving USD 650,000 from the proceeds to charity. The carmaker said the gold model would make for a sound precious metals and gemstones investment since it has the potential to rise in value. CNBC, however, reported that purchasing 25 kilograms of gold point-of-sale at current prices would only amount to USD 1.2 million.
