Comedian Bill Cosby said African American leaders in the US need to come from the universities and women. The Cosby Show star made his statement in an interview with CNN Anchor Don Lemon.

Lemon asked Cosby what kind of African American leaders the country needed now. The comedian said, "I think it has to come from the universities," Mr. Cosby began. " I think, women, strongly because when you see 70%, in research, that says they are the leaders of the household, what we need is for people to realize I want to raise my kid. I want to go back and get my three kids. I want to take on that responsibility. I want to love my children."

Women in the US, however, suffer a wage gap and are paid only USD 0.77 for every USD 1 earned by men. For women of color, the gap is even more pronounced. The National Partnership for Women and Families revealed that African American women as well as Latinas in the United States received USD 18,817 and USD 23,298 less than what non-Hispanic white men earned a year. That would that for women of color, the wage gap was at USD 0.64 and USD 0.55 for every dollar earned by men.
