The network connectivity of AT&T was extended to the SWIFT community in the Gulf region. Currently, AT&T's IP virtual network services connect the global clientele of SWIFT for a secure financial messaging service between institutions worldwide.

According to SWIFT Head of Middle East and North Africa Sido Bestani, "Our agreement with AT&T ensures that we will be able to better serve our customers in the region by providing alternative ways to connect to SWIFT and greater resiliency of the technical infrastructure. This is important to SWIFT because the region's banks, financial institutions and corporates are growing and business continuity remains a primary focus."

AT&T had become the preferred network for SWIFT and had consistently provided IP virtual private network services to the global clientele of SWIFT since 2002. Since that time, the world's leading financial institutions have entered into agreements with the telecommunications firm for its IP VPN services for over 1000 locations found worldwide.

Dubai is the regional hub for the Middle East and Africa, providing multinational companies doing business in the Gulf region and African continent with a portfolio of IP related services which include hosting, security and connectivity.
