Bruker acquires Prairie Technologies

Today, Bruker Corporation announced that it has acquired Prairie Technologies Inc. The latter is a provider of life sciences fluorescence microscopy products. The acquisition would boost Bruker's position in life science markets.

Prairie Technologies is headquartered near Madison, Wisconsin. The company pioneered the use of multiphoton fluorescence microscopy. Prairie's multiphoton product had enabled researches to make revolutionary discoveries in cell biology and neurobiology. Prairie's products served an addressable market estimated to be more than USD150 million.

The acquisition of Prairie would enable Bruker to enter the fluorescence microscopy market. Prairie generated revenue of around USD11 million in 2012.
