New members of the board for Sirius XM had been appointed. These new members are former ESPN head George Bodenheimer and Microsoft executive Anthony Bates. Sirius XM is the satellite radio provider under the aegis of Liberty Media, which is controlled by mogul John Malone.

This is just the latest additions to previous hires, such as Discovery CEO David Maslav just last May. In another move, Liberty Media's CEO Greg Maffel was appointed as chairman last April.

Bodenheimer and Bates would be replacing Robin Pringle and Mark Carlton, both of whom resigned last Wednesday after being on the job for just nine months. This was confirmed via a regulatory filing.

Bodeheimer was executive chairman of ESPN and president of the sports network before stepping down last January 2012 after 15 years at the helm. Bates on the other hand was CEO of Microsoft when it acquired Skype and is widely considered as the successor to Steve Ballmer over at Microsoft.

Liberty Media gained control of Sirius XM through a 40% share exchange for a USD350 million loan to help the satellite radio company avoid bankruptcy.
