Fans and industry observers contemplated on what Apple's new releases could be in its scheduled September 10 launch held in its headquarters in Cupertino, California. A report by the Christian Science Monitor pointed to the iOS 7 software update as one of the possible offerings since summer saw its release in Beta form. Another possible offering was the iPhone 5S which would supposedly feature a fingerprint scanner.

For the emerging market economies, however, one of the most anticipated releases would be the iPhone 5C. Reuters reported that this would be a cheaper version of Apple's very costly current iPhone models. The iPhone 5C would be catering to specific emerging markets like India and China.

Reuters also disclosed that Apple is hoping that the demand in these economies would help the company reverse the decline of its share price. Last year, Apple hit a record high of USD 702.10, but the price has fallen to 29% since then. Some investors, however, were not too keen on Apple offering a basic version of the iPhone. Reuters speculated that the move could possibly decrease margins.
