In an announcement, American Surgical Assistants purchased ProAssist Surgical Associates for an undisclosed amount. Great Point Partners (GPP), the private equity firm that owns American Surgical, made the announcement. American Surgical is a Houston, Texas-based company that provides professional surgical assistance services to healthcare institutions, surgeons and patients. The services provided by American Surgical results in cost savings for its clients.

ProAssist Surgical Associates is a surgical physician assistant provider based in Dallas, Texas. The purchase would enable American Surgical to expand its customer base in the markets served by ProAssist in Dallas and Forth Worth. The combined firms would serve 235 clients in the US.

American Surgical Chief Executive Officer Tom Kirk said they are thrilled with the latest acquisition. "The skill, expertise, quality and outcomes that they have historically generated match those that American Surgical has consistently provided. This combination is operationally and strategically compelling from multiple perspectives," he added. This is the fifth acquisition by American Surgical after it received the backing of GPP.
