Silicor Materials receives USD6 million infusion

The maker of silicon and aluminum materials for the solar industry, Silicor Materials, announced the raising of USD6 million in funding. It also said it had hired a financial institution to provide assistance and expertise in raising more funds.

According to Silicor Materials CEO Theresa Jester, the source of the investment was Hudson Clean Energy Partners. The funds raised would be utilized for the continued operations and growth of the company.

Providing assistance for the next capital fundraising round is Robert W. Baird & Co. 

Changes are also forthcoming with the new capital infusion. Mark Pinto, the former head of the solar energy business for Applied Materials would be joining the solar energy firm's board of directors. As for projects, it had announced that several sites were under development for its new solar silicon manufacturing plant. The plant production capacity of the new plant would reach 16,000 metric tons each year.
