Malaysia-based PopDigital Sdn Bhd said in an announcement that it has acquired lifestyle platform Tongue in Chic. Financial details of the acquisition were not disclosed.
PopDigital, a creative media outlet, has a portfolio of varied projects in media and technology. Its projects include web network PopTeeVee, online community and culture magazine Poskod.my, and music trend site The Wknd. Tongue in Chic is a lifestyle platform that caters to trends, fashion, beauty and shopping.

The creative media shop and its new acquisition had also joined forces to create and curate a network of original, local content in Malaysia. Dubbed Popfolio Network, the new venture would host Malaysian pop and social culture in varied forms of media such as movies and music. Its first project, a web portal dedicated to local mothers located in urban Malaysia called MakChic, would be launched in late September of this year.  

According to internet and tech startup blog e27, it would be expected of media players to consolidate firms. Publicly-listed new media group CATCHA Media Bhd recently merged with Says Sdn Bhd, a content broadcasting platform, in early May.
