Russian Aviation firms sign more than USD 12 billion contracts in 2013 Moscow air show

The 2013 International Aviation and Space Salon (MAKS) held in Moscow had Russian Aviation firms inking deals worth more than USD 12 billion in the first two days. A six-day event, MAKS featured the products of aviation and aerospace makers. Hundreds of companies from 44 countries and regions around the world joined the air show. Aside from showcasing their products, industry experts sand the public were also treated to aerial demonstrations from the participating companies.

Some of the deals included the USD 12 million deal signed by the Russian Aircraft Corporation to build a servicing center for India's MiG-29UPG fighter aircraft. The firm also signed a deal valued at USD 43 million to construct a servicing center in India for its board radars. India is one of Moscow's largest weapons buyer.

Rosoboronexport, a Russian arms exporter, also announced that it would be working with the Finmeccanica Industrial Group of Italy, aircraft manufacturer OMA SUD and the nation of Cameroon. The companies and the African nation would collaborate for the production of Mi-17 helicopters.
