Italy's biggest phone company, Telecom Italia SpA said that it had hired a new head of its human resources. This was according to three people familiar with the matter.

Mario Di Loreto had been appointed into office and would take post as the chief of human resources and organization on September. This was according to one of the sources who asked not to be identified as the matter was held private in nature. The 50 year old Loreto previously held office at Barilla Holding SpA. The latter is one of Italy's popular food companies. Loreto would take over the company's human resource department after the resignation of Antonio Migliardi. Migliardi exited the company after a five year contract.

The spokesperson of Telecom Italia cited a company policy for Migliardi's resignation. However, the spokesperson who asked not to be named declined to disclose further information regarding the appointment.

According to a compiled Bloomberg data, Telecom Italia had employed more than 82,000 workers as of June 30, 2013.
