Identification, security, and RFID solutions provider Identive Group Inc recently expanded the implementation of its HIRSCH access control system in the San Diego International Airport. This expansion was aimed to provide integrated physical access and security for the airport's redesigned Terminal 2, known as the "Green Build."

Identive's access control system secures over 200 entry points and restricted areas at the new terminal. Terminal 2 is used by 10,000 airline and airport employees and contractors. It acquired the moniker "Green Build" due to its focus on environmental sustainability. After the redesign, Terminal 2 now has ten new gates, which enabled the airport to move up to four million additional passengers annually.

Stephen Healy, Executive Vice President Access Control & Security for Identive said, "San Diego is one of more than a dozen general aviation airports in the U.S. for which Identive is providing integrated physical access and security." He further stated, "We value our long-term relationship with the San Diego International Airport and are proud to be a trusted partner in this next phase of its growth. With the expansion of its access control system from Identive, the San Diego airport can implement enhanced security practices including high assurance identity verification (PKI+PIN+BIO), authentication and registration of presence, consolidated incident data review and access authorization."
