Azul Linhas pulls out IPO amid market slump

Azul Linhas Aereas Brasileiras SA cancelled its initial public offering (IPO) in the middle of the market slump. Azul Linhas was created by JetBlue Airways Corp. is the second company in Brazil to withdraw an IPO.

Today, Brazil-based Azul Linhas announced in a regulatory filing that it has cancelled its intended initial public offering. The request was addressed to securities regulators in-charge of the IPO.

The initial public offering was filed last May 27 by Azul Linhas. The sale was delayed in June due to the present market conditions. This was according to three people familiar with the matter said during that time. According to one of the sources, the airline company was seeking to raise a hefty USD415 million.

Brazil's only publicly traded airline firm, Gol Linhas Aereas Inteligentes SA, lost 35% in 2013. Azul Linhas did not give any reason for the cancellation of its initial public offering.
