France-based food company Danone SA acquired YoCrunch. The deal enabled Danone to strengthen its foothold in the yoghurt market in the US. YoCrunch is a US company that makes yoghurts with various toppings. They have twenty-seven varieties of yoghurts topped with products such as M&M's, Reese's Peanut Butter Candy, Oreo Cookies, Nestle's Butterfinger chocolate and Chips Ahoy cookies. Although Danone did not disclose financial terms of the acquisition, the French company said YoCrunch's annual net sales of USD 110 million and double-digit percentage growth in the past few years make it the leader in its niche.

Danone has been steadily making its presence felt in the USD 7 billion yoghurt market in the US. Its brands- Activia, Stonyfield Farm, Dannon, and Danimals-enabled it to get a 30% share of the yoghurt market in the country. Last month, Danone also inked a deal with Starbucks to offer co-branded yoghurt to their customers in grocery stores as well as in Starbucks' cafe's.
