Today, LG unveiled the G2, the company's newest smartphone. The G2 was larger than the Galaxy S4 of Samsung but one millimeter thicker and heavier. The latest offering from LG is currently one of the first mobile phones that would feature what the company calls an "intuitive near key."

LG settled on moving away from the custom which led to a volume rocker at the back of the smartphone. The buttons were below the primary camera instead of putting them on the side. LG said it located the keys where a user's index finger "naturally sits on the phone". It added, "The key provides the best comfortable and stable one hand grip with easy volume up and down and self photo."

During the second quarter, LG was able to ship 12.1 million smartphones. Forbes said its boost is a year over year increase of by up to 100%.

G2 featured a 13 megapixel camera that has a 1080p video recorder. Its RAM is 2GB while it still has a microSD card slot for extra storage capacity. LG's G2 also has a removable 2,610 mAh battery and a nano sim card slot.
