The tallest building in the financial district of Shanghai and all of China is nearing completion. It would be the second tallest building in the world, with the final beam being installed last Saturday.

The Shanghai Tower measures in at a towering 632 meters over the Pudong district. The tallest tower is Dubai's Burj Khalifa, which comes in at 829.8 meters in height.

Now the internal workings of the building would be done. Upon completion, Shanghai Tower would also have retail and office space as well as a museum and a luxury hotel.

The cost of the construction is around GBP1.56 billion or RMB14.8 billion. The construction started back in 2008 and funding was put up on part by the city government of Shanghai.

The booming economy of China had fuelled the construction industry, resulting in having two of the tallest buildings in the world, namely  the Jin Mao Tower, the Shanghai World Financial Center and the Shanghai Tower.
