The 6pm TV3 news has been saved, conducting a complete transformation and will now be delivered by rival media company Stuff following the closure of Newshub in early July.

According to Newshub, Warner Bros Discovery announced yesterday that it has entered into a partnership with Stuff to deliver a 6pm bulletin, according to New Zealand boss Glen Kyne.

Stuff, Newshub Call Meeting After Reaching Agreement

Insiders familiar with the situation report that the print news powerhouse has emerged victorious over NZME in securing the creation of a 6pm bulletin to replace Newshub at Three.

Three has announced that Stuff has been chosen to develop a new news product for the channel's crucial 6pm slot. This decision comes shortly after Three's confirmation of the closure of Newshub.

According to sources, Stuff has organized an all-staff meeting in a town hall-style format. The meeting was scheduled for 9:15 a.m. this morning and is expected to last until 10:30 a.m. A similar meeting is set to take place at Three's parent company, Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD), following a report by Stuff yesterday.

The leadership from both organizations will then gather at Stuff around midday to announce additional information about the product - although there are still many details to be finalized.

Stuff to Replacre Newshub

Insiders familiar with the agreement indicate that Stuff staff will be informed of their successful pitch as the originators of a fresh bulletin, while WBD staff will receive the same news. Nevertheless, it seems improbable that the Newshub brand will extend to the bulletin, according to NewsTalkZB.

Additionally, it is highly unlikely that Stuff will recruit more than a few Newshub staff members to produce the new 6pm show. Regarding WBD, the arrangement is purely contractual, and the responsibility of staffing the news product, both on and off camera, will be handled by Stuff in collaboration with the soon-to-be ex-Newshub staff. The new product is set to debut on July 6, following the conclusion of the final Newshub bulletin.
