A disturbing video has captured a scene where the suspect is seen brandishing a menacing knife, causing panic among shoppers who seek refuge in nearby stores.

A police inspector fatally shot the attacker, who was believed to be a middle-aged man. Although the suspect's identity has yet to be confirmed, authorities have determined that he acted alone and that the incident is unrelated to terrorism.

During the incident, a total of five women and one man lost their lives in the shopping center, with another woman passing away later in the hospital. Eight additional individuals are currently receiving medical treatment in hospitals across Sydney. According to The Independent, an eyewitness observed a baby with stab wounds, while the mother, clearly frightened, tried to comfort her child as they were being transported to an ambulance.

Additional witnesses recounted hearing gunshots while seeking refuge inside nearby stores, with one individual describing the assailant as carrying a large blade. He appeared to be extremely aggressive and dangerous.

Emergency services responded to an incident at Westfield Bondi Junction shortly before 4pm local time, according to a statement from New South Wales Police.
