Fraudulent Amazon returns are now targeting more and more sellers. Even small businesses are falling victim to these fake shoppers.

Some are now wondering why Amazon, despite being an e-commerce giant, still doesn't have enough countermeasures to protect its merchants from fake Amazon returns.

Fraudulent Amazon Returns Target Sellers

A small business owner who sells accessories and apparel on Amazon said that he was scammed after a customer returned a pair of flip-flops on an order for Nike cleats.

Another Amazon merchant fell victim to these scammy shoppers after a customer swapped a Coach wallet for an imitation accessory, as reported by CBS News.

An Amazon spokesperson said that the American e-commerce giant has no tolerance for fraudulent returns. But, is a retailer to blame for this, experts say yes since Amazon makes it so easy for shoppers to return products they don't like.

There are even some instances when the e-commerce giant will refund customers for low-cost items and allow them to keep the products.
