On Tuesday, US President Barack Obama would visit the warehouse of Amazon.com in Chattanooga, Tennessee to talk about the growth of jobs. However, Amazon already announced that it would add 5,000 new jobs in all of its US fulfillment warehouses. The online shopping giant's warehouses are where it currently packs and ships the merchandises that were bought online. It would also add another 2,000 customer service jobs.

"We're hiring more than 5,000 people to join our team and help us continue to innovate and serve our customers," Dave Clark, Vice President of Worldwide Operations of Amazon, stated. According to the company, the median salary paid by its fulfillment centers was 30% more than the salary from the traditional retail stores. Amazon currently employs more than 20,000 people at its US fulfillment warehouses.

Last week, the White House publicized that the president would deliver the first in a series of speeches regarding policies on the "better bargain for the middle class" in Amazon's fulfillment center located in Chattanooga. The speech would focus on production, high-wage jobs and creation of jobs for the Americans.

The job additions were triggered by Amazon's new delivery service and the company's growth. Amazon reported a US$15.7 billion earnings in the second quarter. Its revenue increased by 22% from last year's US$12.83 billion.
