American tech real-estate marketplace firm Zillow conducted research to determine when homeowners should sell their properties. It turns out that the best time to sell houses is in June. Here's why.

When's the Best Time To Sell a House in 2024?

Zillow claims that the best time to sell houses in 2024 is during the first two weeks of June. According to CNBC's latest report, American sellers who listed their properties during this period in 2023 were able to sell their houses for over 2% more.

The real-estate marketplace company said that May had been the best month to sell houses in the years before the global COVID-19 pandemic.

However, this changed to June after the health crisis, allowing home sellers to have an additional $7,700 per house sale on average.

Zillow explained that this home-shopping shift suggests that mortgage rates strongly affect demand on top of the usual seasonality that brings buyers to the market.

2024 Expected To Have Same Home-Shopping Trend

Zillow claimed that the home-shopping shift it noticed in 2023 is expected to happen in 2024 as well. However, the American real-estate marketplace's data showed that it will still depend on your state.

For example, Zillow stated that the best time to list houses in Los Angeles is in the first half of May, which could give homeowners a 2.4% price premium ($15,500).

Meanwhile, Chicago-based homeowners should sell their properties in the first half of June to receive a 2.8% price premium ($8,800). To learn more about Zillow's findings, click this link
