Doritos Spain is facing backlash as its announcement of transgender artist Samantha Hudson being its brand ambassador sparked outrage over her past tweets involving a 12-year-old.
According to Newsweek, the appointment of Doritos Spain to Samantha Hudson as a brand ambassador in Spain happened amid ongoing debates about the representation of the transgender community in brand campaigns and products, with conservative groups continuing to call for boycotts.
Bud Light became one of the first brands to face national attention in the US. After partnering with transgender TikTok star Dylan Mulvaney on a beer promotion last April, it received massive calls from conservatives to boycott the company.
Doritos Spain, under PepsiCo Spain's branch of products, unveiled Hudson as a brand ambassador over the weekend through a 50-second promotional video titled "Crunch Talks."
Hudson, a transgender artist from Spain, gained prominence through her social media presence and her YouTube channel, sharing beauty, fashion, travel, and lifestyle tips.

However, the announcement sparked controversy on Monday as Samantha Hudson's past tweets resurfaced, leading to a call for a boycott. Some individuals took to social media platforms like X, formerly known as Twitter, to bring attention to Hudson's previous tweets.
Hudson was accused of being a pedophile for her tweets in 2015 regarding a 12-year-old girl, which, according to her, she tweeted to be funny, but some still deemed it inappropriate.
She was also accused of hating women who have been victims of sexual abuse, as one of her past tweets allegedly mocked rape victims who seek help.
Doritos brand ambassador Samantha Hudson posted:

PepsiCo Spain has yet to address the allegations or boycott regarding Hudson, who also has yet to comment on the matter.
