From the time the Namibian Competition Commission (NaCC) was formed in 2009, it has already handled 221 mergers and acquisitions. In addition, it has also investigated and concluded 30 cases involving laws about restrictive business practices enforcement in the country.

Chief Executive Officer Heinrich Mihe Gaomab II is proud of what NaCC has accomplished. "The Commission is proud to indicate that it has developed the requisite skills in the competition policy and law in the country. When we started off in 2009, there was a dearth or complete lack of competition skills in Namibia. But now, I can attest that we have developed our own Namibians, and that they are administering and implementing the Competition Act," he said in a media briefing.

The promotion of a culture of fair competition that gives all market players the chance to start and grow their business was the guiding spirit behind the formation of the NaCC.
