On Tuesday, AT&T released its report regarding the company's second quarter earnings. The sales of smartphones showed that the android operating system of Google outdid the sales of Apple's iPhones.

Ralph de la Vega, AT&T's head of wireless, stated that android mobile devices made up most of the company's 6.8 million units sold during the quarter. He added that the wireless provider actually sold more iPhones in this quarter in contrast with the last quartile.

Compared with other wireless carriers, AT&T offered more iPhones on its network. However, due to the popularity of android phones, the company is currently considering the shift towards Google's operating system-based devices.

AT&T's revenue was up 1.6% to US$32.1 billion. During the quarter, the company was able to add up to two million new clients to the network.

John Stephens, Chief Financial Officer of AT&T, stated that their new upgrade plan would benefit from the number of iPhones that the company offers. This was due to the fact that Apple's iPhones command the highest resale value.
