China Records Average of 500,000 Missing Elderly Each Year

In China, more than 1,300 elderly people per day is missing which sums up to 500,000 elderly in just one year.

According to the Zhongmin Social Assistance Institute under Civil the Ministry of Civil Affairs, elederly who is aged 65 years old and above had gone missing.

Wang Zhikun, the president of the Zhongmin Institute said that this is really a very huge number and cannot be ignored.a

According to investigations, 25% of the missing elderly had been diagnosed with Alzheimer's or dementia, while 72% of them is suffering from some sort of memory impairment. Some of these reported missing elderly was already found but 25% of those who was found went missing again.

China's population is aging rapidly and it is a hang over of the one-child policy which was already turned over last year.

 The problem was particularly bad in some rural areas and small cities because younger populations typically migrate to big cities.

China is been already home for more seniors which has the estimated population of 114 million elderly aged 65 years old and above according to World Bank Report.

The government has already warned China that by 2030, China will have the most aged population on earth with a figure of 400 million people who is over 60 years old.

This issue is still under investigation as to which what is really happening to the elderly and why are those elderly that was already found had gone missing again. Where could possible this elder people go. With the fact that most of the elders that is missing have illnesses.

China is still working on the reports on this matter together with their population growth that is reportedly currently growing, a reason why the one-child policy had been implemented since last year.

Because of the swelling ranks of elderly people across the region will rack up their health care cost up to $20 trillion by 2030.
