Google Inc.'s breakfast event on Wednesday presented its new offer for the living room, a small device called Chromecast. Chromecast could stream media from the cloud. Users would only need to search for video content that they wanted to play and the device would already present it. They would also be able to turn on their television set by just clicking the video playback.

"Chromecast offers an alternative solution to existing non-connected HDTVs with a simple and affordable device. We believe there is ample room for both products to exist and succeed," Google's spokesperson said.

Chromecast featured simplicity which was a direct threat to Apple TV's AirPlay. Apple Inc was able to sell 12 million Apple TVs. This permitted Apple to gain the record on marketing the most popular device that was specialized on streaming videos. Furthermore, Apple TV's worldwide market share already rose by 56%.

Nonetheless, Chromecast would still prove to be a danger for Apple TV. Google successfully presented an advanced multiscreen feature for the device which was expected to get the attention of users. Finally, Chromecast's ability to synchronize media playback in several devices would boost the revenue for the tech titan.
