As if bad home market satisfaction weren't troubling enough for the Korean smartphone makers, a fire broke out at one of Samsung Electronics' plants in South Korea today. Samsung Electronics, the words' biggest memory chip maker and Apple's closest smartphone rival, announced that no casualties were reported.

The blaze started Tuesday night which continued until early this morning. The plant was located in the city of Yongin, a few hours south of capital Seoul. Police said that the fire started at the plant's cooling tower placed at the rooftop of one of Samsung's production lines.

More than the fire accident, what burned the company was the recent data released in South Korea that local consumers preferred their American competitors' products. According to reports, customer satisfaction rated higher for Apple than home company Samsung.

Despite that, Apple was on a downward trend in the South Korean market as of late. Samsung remained as the king of the Korean smartphone industry amid negative customer reactions. Almost 65% of the entire South Korean market share was owned by Samsung Electronics.
