Healthy snack food provider Naturebox Inc. announced earlier that it has received USD 8.5 million from new and existing investors in Series A funding. New investor Softbank Capital and existing investor Geneal Catalyst Partners led the financing round.

NatureBox, the frontliner healthy snack food online service, stated that the funds will be used for the expansion of its consumer reach and improvements to its products and sevices.

"Everyone loves to snack, and if given the opportunity, most of us would choose to make it part of a healthy and well-balanced lifestyle," said NatureBox CEO, Gautam Gupta about the company. Gupta co-founded NatureBox Inc along with college friend and NatureBox Chief Marketing Officer, Ken Chen.

"Our strategy is to offer the American consumer an easy and personalized way to enjoy healthy, delicious and distinctive snacks while delivering a customer experience that establishes NatureBox as a trusted and admired food brand," Gupta added.

The company made its service known in January 2012 and gained ground in the U.S. market in the same after addressing the scarcity of healthier, better-tasting substitutes to food eaten on-the-go or between meals.
