Today, the future monarch was born at 4:24pm local time in the private wing of London's St. Mary's Hospital. The Buckingham Palace stated through Twitter that Prince William and Duchess Kate's first baby boy weighed 8 pounds and 6 ounces.

The announcement added that Kate and the baby were both alright and that Prince William was present for the delivery. However, the name of the baby who's third in line to the throne was not announced yet.

Prime Minister David Cameron emerged from Number 10 to welcome the "wonderful news" and the "important moment in the life of the nation."

The growing baby-fever in Britain continued in the past few weeks. The childbirth was expected to provide a projected US$360 million boost for Britain's flat economy.

The royal-baby merchandises like Will and Kate masks poured in stores. This would be used at the street parties that were expected to break out soon across the nation.
