After the successful runs of almost all of Marvel's films, including the 'Iron Man' series and 'The Avengers', another moneymaking machine is set out to cash in on the comic book franchise giant.

Disney reportedly handed US$4 billion to the comic book producer almost four years ago for acquisition of Marvel's intellectual property rights.

The company created the most popular comic book characters in popular culture such as Captain America and Thor. Disney is looking at anything that could potentially enable them to penetrate that comic book market.

In the recently held Comic Con 2013, consumers got a sneak peek of the new film "Guardians of the Galaxy," Disney's initial attempt at a Marvel franchise. The film builds on lesser known Marvel creations, and the movie started filming only a few weeks ago.

"Guardians of the Galaxy" is about a group of thieves from outer space tasked to be the custodians of the entire universe.
