High net worth athletes top ESPY Awards

Several big names and investor darlings won in the recently concluded ESPY Awards. LeBron James, the 4th most paid sports celebrity won top honors.

The Miami Heat superstar won three awards, including a repeat win of the Best Male Athlete award. Serena Williams won the Best Female Athlete Award, despite slipping in the earnings rankings down to 68th place, according to data from Forbes.

The Miami Heat also won the Best Team and Best Game awards after their nail-biting Game 6 victory over rivals San Antonio Spurs.

 Michael Phelps clinched the Best Record-Breaking Performance. Phelps posted a net worth of over US$45 million from advertisements, winnings, and salary.

Other winners include Colin Keapernick (Best Breakthrough Athlete), Rich Pitino (Best Coach or Manager), Adrian Peterson (Best Comeback), Usain Bolt (Best International Athlete), Adrian Peterson (Best NFL Player), Miguel Cabrera (Best MLB Player), and Sidney Crosby (Best NHL Player.).

Jadeveon Clowney's amazing hit was named this year's Best Play.
