Dorel Industries acquired 35% stakes in the Tour de France team that carried its Cannondale brand. Trek Bicycle Corp announced that they will take over the Radio Shack team in the coming year.

Ulrich Lacher, director for marketing researcher Repucom, said, "The bikemakers have realized there is an opportunity. Many other companies are reluctant to get involved in cycling."

Bikemakers, like Trek Bicycle Corp and Dorel Industries Inc, are adamant to get machines like the Cannondale's Supersix Evo Black Inc. to stand out against the other 16 sponsorship competitors. Trek Bicycle Corp and Dorel Industries Inc are set to get into position to influence team's decisions like hiring riders.
