Two of the construction giants in China have escalated their rivalry in an attempt to get a bigger share in the construction equipment industry in the country. Sany Heavy Industry Co Ltd is a heavy machinery manufacturing company. They accused their rival,  Zoomlion Heavy Industry Science and Technology Co Ltd, of being involved in the kidnapping of the son of the Sany's chairman, Liang Wengeng and his assistant. Zoomlion is a construction gear maker. Both of the companies' headquarters are based in Hunan Province.

Sany, at the same time, alleged that Zoomlion has been spying on them. On the contrary, Sany attempted to spy on Zoomlion in three instances since 2009. 

Both claims were denied by Zoomlion. They also said in a statement that they had nothing to do with the detention of one of Sany's assistant last year. "It wishes that all fictitious allegations made against the Company can be put to an end," Zoomlion said.
