New Girl returns for Season 5 with mainstay Zooey Deschanel to jumpstart the fifth installment. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle star Megan Fox to replace Deschanel in the coming season. Coach exits the show.

New Girl Season 5 will introduce viewers to a new roommate with the rest of the boys as Megan Fox temporarily fills in for mainstay Zooey Deschanel who plays Jess Day. Megan will play Reagan who will be romantically involved with Jess' beau Nick played by Jake Johnson.

The reportedly new love team gained negative reactions from the Nick - Jess love team.  Currently, Deschanel is on maternity leave and her on-screen character Jess is on "sequestered in jury duty", according to Christian Post.

Fox as Reagan is described as the absolute opposite of Jess, and Cece upon meeting Reagan, will become competitive with each other. Fox is rumored to already filmed kissing and shower scenes with Nick. There are also news that if ratings go up with Fox's Reagan, the network may pick her as a series regular.

Vine Report noted that while Deschanel is to leave the show temporarily, her character Jess will open the fifth season with two more succeeding episodes. Deschanel had pre-filmed the sitcom for atleast three episodes prior to her leave. Nick and Jess will be preparing a detailed engagement party for friends Schimdt (Max Greenfield) and Cece Parekh (Hannah Simone).

Deschanel is not the only one leaving the show on Season 5 of New Girl. Damon Wayans Jr. who plays Coach in the series did not renew his contract for another season, Ecumenical News published. Wayans Jr. persisted on concentrating with his other show Happy Ending. Executive Producer Elizabeth Meriwether mentioned in an interview indicated in the site that the show will create a graceful exit for Coach and if Wayans decided to comeback, his story will always be available.

New Girl Season 5 is scheduled to premiere on 5 January on Fox.
