Ford Motor Co. will invest $1.3 billion in its Kentucky Truck Plant in Louisville to support the production of its 2017 Ford F-Series Super Duty truck, which is expected to roll out late 2017.

According to Nasdaq, the investment is meant for the car maker's new body shop, retooling, and facility upgrades to manufacture the trucks.

With the new investment, the company is expected to create an additional 2,000 jobs to work on the production at its Kentucky Truck Plant, which currently employs 4,400 workers.

The Kentucky Truck Plant, which opened in 1969, is where Ford manufactures its F-250, F-350, F-450 and F-550 Super Duty pickup trucks, along with its Lincoln Navigator and Ford Expedition.

It has produced more than 5 million Ford F-Series Super Duty trucks so far. Ford's Super Duty truck lineup is made up of the Platinum, King Ranch, Lariat, XL, and the XLT.

Ford has already invested a hefty amount of money in the past to boost production, according to a report by KyForward. It invested $80 million to satisfy the increasing demand for its Super Duty trucks, another $129 million for its Louisville Assembly Plant to support the production of its Lincoln MKC.

It has also invested more than $1.5 million in Kentucky and Louisville for the past two years.  

"Adding new jobs and more investment at Kentucky Truck Plant not only secures a solid foundation for our UAW members, but also strengthens the communities in which they live, work and play," said National Ford Department UAW vice president Jimmy Settles in a report by WHAS 11 ABC.

"Such success highlights our members' hard work and dedication to building world-class, quality vehicles like the Super Duty."

Ford's new F-Series is considered to be the "toughest, smartest, and most capable" vehicles. It will be very strong, with military caliber and aluminum-alloy body. The vehicles will have stronger axles, suspensions and springs. With seven cameras as part of its steering technology, maneuvering is easier with these new models.
