Grey’s Anatomy actress Ellen Pompeo talked about the upcoming Denzel Washington-helmed episode this season in a recent interview. In other developments, Martin Henderson hashed out the potential romance between his character, Riggs, and newly-widowed Meredith Grey.

Last October, it has been reported that Grey’s Anatomy has officially snagged Denzel Washington to direct an episode for season 12. Reports say that the Oscar-winning actor will helm the Stacy McKee-penned ninth episode.

Series star Ellen Pompeo chatted with Entertainment Weekly to give fans a tease about the special episode, sharing that she can’t wait for the viewers to watch it.

“[It’s for sure the [best] thing I’ve ever done on the show,” she enthused.

Pompeo also related her and the rest of the cast experiences’ while working with Washington. She commented that Washington and his caliber as a director is truly one of a kind.

“His charisma, he changes the energy in the room completely. Everybody is just at the top of their game,” Pompeo continued.

Wetpaint shared a leaked video of the said episode, where Meredith was seen being pushed by Bailey in a wheelchair. Washington, who’s wearing a black baseball cap, was also seen in the clip as he passed by the two actresses.

Based on the spoilery set footage, it seems that Meredith just faced some major injuries following a yet to be known accident. Fans are gonna have to wait and see until ABC releases the official episode synopsis.

In other Grey’s news, Shondaland newcomer Martin Henderson weighed-in on the possibility of Riggs hitting it off with Meredith romantically.

“At this point, knowing how Shonda [Rhimes] and the writers construct the stories and the relationships, anything is possible,” the actor said in a report from Entertainment Weekly.

Henderson is hopeful about Riggs and Meredith being more than friends in the future, saying that “there’s definitely a possibility, but it’s way too early to tell,” he continued.

Grey’s Anatomy returns on Thursday, Feb. 11th on ABC.
