BBC's Top Gear Season 23 Confirmed to Premiere in May 2016 Under New Format; Chris Evans Starts Filming for 16 Episodes

The British motor vehicles television series Top Gear will return for its 23rd Season without presenters Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond, and James May. Jeremy Clarkson has been evicted from show after the assault incident. New presenter Chris Evans started filming for the first 16 episode series of the show.

BBC's 23rd version of Top Gear will air without Top Gear's seasoned hosts Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond, and James May. According to BBC, Jeremy Clarkson was expelled from the show when the host "unprovoked physical attack" on a Top Gear producer.

Clarkson's co-hosts Richard Hammond and James May followed suit upon Clarkson's departure from the show. Recently, reports surfaced that the trio front men will be seen on a new motoring show called Amazon Prime. Clarkson was more than happy to leave Top Gear and joined Amazon Prime which he described the spaceship and the future of automobile shows.

Replacing the trio is Chris Evans, British TV personality and radio host, who already started filming for the show according to Auto Blog. The new host also revealed the UK premiere date for the reformed and overhauled Top Gear season 23. He also revealed that in January, the team will shoot their first global feature in the US. Top Gear Season 23's format will undergo some changes, steer away from the familiar "Clarkson and co-hosts" based format of the show.  Evans did not add more details on the new Top Gear nor name his co-hosts.

Engadget noted that the release of Top Gear Season 23 will air earlier in UK but will arrive in BBC America soon after the UK premiere. As observed from other premiere of BBC shows, BBC America usually released international based shows after 24 hours from the original premiere.

Top Gear Season 23 has been confirmed to air on 8 May 2016 on BBC UK.
