NanoSatisfi, a US-based company which aims to provide any person an access to nanosatellites for just US $250 per week, announced that it obtained a US $300,000 investment from Grishin Robotics.

The latter company is backed by a Russian entrepreneur.

In a statement, NanoSatisfi said that the funds would be utilized to "build new nanosatellites, secure launches for them, and extend the team of engineers." NanoSatisfi intends to provide access to space to over 250, 000 individuals. This move would necessitate at least four satellites.

It is expected that two satellites, both of which have already been built, would be launched into space in the coming months.

"We are very excited to have Grishin Robotics partner with us. Dmitry immediately got the concept that our autonomous satellites are basically robots in space," Peter Platzer, NanoSatisfi's founder, said.

"This virtual extension of human capabilities is a vision that we share because these affordable devices are breaking down the barriers to accessing space and bringing to bear the benefits of accessing large scale space based data collection," he added.

Platzer, an Austrian-born physicist, has a flourishing Wall Street background.
